Dan Riedl, National Security Unit Chief and Assistant U.S. Attorney, U.S. Department of Justice
Dan Riedl, National Security Unit Chief and Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, will deliver a keynote on today’s cybersecurity trends, common attack methods, threat actors, nation-state activity and practical guardrails organizations can use to reduce risk.
Daniel Riedl is the Chief of the National Security and Cyber Unit in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, a role he has held since 2019. He joined the United States Attorney’s Office in 2008 and worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in the General Crimes, Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force, and National Security and Cyber units.
Mr. Riedl specializes in cases involving ransomware, malware, terrorism, and theft of intellectual property. He is the lead attorney on several complex cyber matters including the Trickbot malware case, which resulted in the conviction of two Trickbot programmers and sanctions in the United States and United Kingdom against eleven Trickbot actors.
Before becoming an Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Riedl served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Franklin County, Ohio, and a Special Prosecutor for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. He received his Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame.
